Hi Bill, Mike, The DODS project is very interested in VisAD having the capability to read DODS data. We don't know of any groups working on this and, currently, we don't have the resources to allocate to the effort. The approach we have discussed involves developing a new version of the Unidata netCDF Java library that uses the DODS Java API when called with a URL instead of a local filename. Since VisAD already uses the Unidata netCDF Java library, the new version could be used without change to VisAD. This approach is similar to the current C version of the DODS netCDF client library which is the Unidata netCDF library reworked to use the DODS C++ API when called with a URL instead of a local filename. The DODS Java API is available via anonymous CVS and will be on our release site soon. If anyone decides to work on this, please let us know. We will keep you informed of our efforts.
