FlatField.makeField

I genuinely hope that I am not irritating anyone with my overuse of the list
(let me know if I am).  I'm hoping that the questions I ask are questions
that others have as well.  Take a look at this method:

public static FlatField makeField(FunctionType type, int length, boolean
irregular)

Look familiar?  I tried looking up what the 3rd argument means, but I
couldn't find any documentation on it.  Can someone please tell me what it
does?
