Alexandre - Looks like you've gotten quick answers to your question. I just want to point out to you (and the rest of the VisAD list) that Unidata maintains an archive of the visad-list emails. There is a search facility (not the best, but hey it worked in this case) where you can scour the archive to see if others have encountered similiar problems. Using "name already used" as the keyword, I found several replies similiar to the answers you got. Think of it as a useful knowledge base that you can tap as you are getting started, besides the VisAD list. That said, don't be afraid to ask the list about VisAD questions, either.
