There is a link the Python/VisAD tutorial that points to: http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~tomw/visadtutor/jyvis.exe This is a self-extracting ZIP archive which contains: 1) Java 1.3 (runtime for Windoz) 2) Java 3D (for OpenGL) 3) visad.jar 4) jython.jar 5) a couple of batch files to run Jython Alll you need to do is un-zip this into a new subdirectory and you will have a complete visad installation on Windows (but note James' comments about Java3D). I've only been able to test this on WinNT and Win98, so I do not know if it's usable for Win2K. Also, the visad.jar is a couple of months old -- I will endeavor to update it this week, though. I will also make sure the Java1.3 is the right version for Pentium IIIs, since Sun had to update the jre for that as well. Once you've unzipped this, you should be able to run the SpreadSheet by simply doing: java -classpath visad.jar since visad.ss.SpreadSheet is the default "main" of the jar file. tom On Mon, 17 Sep 2001, Hennessy, Mel E. wrote: > Is it possible, without too much pain, to run VisAD Spreahsheet on a PC (1 > GHz > Pentium 3) running Windows 2000 ? > if so, whatever pointers etc. you can supply would be appreciated. > if not, then is a HP workstation running HP-UX 11 an option ? > > Thanks, Mel Hennessy (Johns Hopkins Univ.
