Hi Garrett,

Try:

  DisplayRendererJ3D dr = display.getDisplayRenderer();
  VisadCanvasJ3D canvas = dr.getCanvas();
  J3DGraphics2D g2d = canvas.getGraphics2D();

Then you should be able to do ordinary Java2D rendering using g2d.
I have never used this, so can't give you any details.
