Check the DATE file in the visad folder.  It contains the
time and date when the distribution was created.

Also, you can check the date stamp for the latest version
of VisAD without downloading the entire distribution.
Just check the file:
   ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/pub/visad/DATE
