A new release of VisAD on the ftp server includes:

1. Extensive changes by Jeff McWhirter of Unidata to
improve performance. These principally reduce memory use
during computation and visualization operations, which
reduces the number of garbage collections. These changes
have gradually appeared in releases during the past
couple months.

2. The addMap() and clearMaps() methods of DisplayImpl
can now be invoked any time, without any restrictions on
linked data. And a new DisplayImpl.removeMap(ScalarMap map)
method allows individual ScalarMaps to be removed from a
display, and can be invoked at any time.
