Hi Don,I ran into the same problem with a GeForce card. It's come to be known here as the "black bug". We gave up on the GeForce cards and went with the older TNT2s. However, I recently ran my stuff on a Linux box that I was told had a GeForce card (maybe a 4) with the latest Sun JDK and Blackdown Java3D with no problems. So there is hope.

Hi Jim- Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried the 1.3.1beta to see if that helps? Don Jim Koutsovasilis wrote:Hello Don, my Linux box runs XFree86 4.2.0-8 with an NVidia GeForce 2, and experiences problems when using Blackdown's Java 3D 1.3. Things such as filled land-masses [ie. Gridded2DSets passed to DelaunayCustom.fill()] are not displayed, and flash briefly onto the screen as the display is zoomed. Blackdown's Java 3D 1.2.1 works fine, except for offscreen rendering, which almost causes the machine to lock-up. Hope this helps, Jim. --- Jim Koutsovasilis Bureau of Meteorology, Australia jimk@xxxxxxxxxx On Tue, Oct 07, 2003 at 02:16:54PM -0600, Don Murray wrote:Hi- A couple of us have run into a problem using Java 3D 1.3 from Blackdown on Linux with an NVidia GeForce 4 card. The problem manifests itself when a display with a texture map is shown. Any other lines (like the VisAD box) turn black. An example of this is Test16 in visad/examples. Has anyone else experienced this and have a work around? One workaround we have is to use Java 3D 1.2.1, but I would rather have a solution that takes care of the problem using Java 3D 1.3.
