I'm guessing that when you requested that the URL www.ssec.wisc.edu/visad be removed, everything under that was removed as well. Somewhere along the line, the link in www.ssec.wisc.edu/~billh/visad to the javadocs was changed.
I know that the VisAD Javadocs can be found online at: http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~dglo/docs/index.html But they are not currently up to date...Last I heard, Dave was planning to look into why SourceForge and the Javadocs weren't being updated properly by his nightly script, but was waiting for TC to fix a problem with sarah.ssec.wisc.edu first.
Stuart, in the meantime, you can always build the Javadocs yourself from source with "make docs" and view them locally.
