Hi Jacob, I know what's going on now. The 3D geopotential height field has a parameter name of "HGHT_PRES". We have a data alias defined that maps that name to "Z". When we go look for the height field we look for paramters with name "Z", thus the 3D field showing up. TO keep from having to do the "Any " field work around you can add another alias to "Z" so we'll also pick up the 2D Geopotential height at surface, whose actual fieldname is "HGHT_NONE" using the parameter alias editor: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/docs/userguide/tools/AliasEditor.html Under the "System aliases" tab find the "Z" field. Right or double click to edit. In the text area add HGHT_NONE at the bottom of the list and press OK. Now you should have a new "Z" entry in the "User aliases" tab. Close the editor. Reload your data field and try again. This time when the field selector pops up you should see the 2D geopotential height field. -Jeff Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: BAO-153996 Department: Support IDV Priority: Normal Status: Closed
