Hi Valentijn, re: > A few questions regarding the support of FY2C in mcidas: > > -Do you know someone at CAMS, Being, as i expect that they have their > own ADDE server? Unfortunately, no. Sorry... > -What version of McIDAS started supporting this new data, and which > files are being affected (SATANOT, etc.)? I am not sure which version of McIDAS first contained support for FY2C data. I see entries for FY-2C in v2002's SATANNOT file, however. > -What can you tell us about the navigation support (georeference) for > FY2C, is it available in McIDAS and the IDV? Navigation is available in McIDAS. I am guessing that it is available in IDV also. There is a publically-accessible ADDE server operated by NOAA that has FY2C data available. Here is the access information: ADDE GROUP - PUB ADDE SERVER - GP16.SSD.NESDIS.NOAA.GOV I just loaded a channel 2 image (PUB/FY2C-CH2, 10.8 um) image in my McIDAS-X v2005 session and put a map on top, and the navigation registration looks good. According to the AREA file header for the image I just IMGCOPYied to my machine, the navigation is GMSX (GMS). Given this, I would expect that the IDV supports the navigation. The best proof, however, is trying it for yourself :-) > ps. I read somewhere in the announcements of the latest AGU meeting > that EUMETSAT would announce a publically available MSG server, any > news? ADDE access to MSG data was announced at the AGU Spring 2006 Joint Assembly that was just held in Baltimore, Maryland USA. The proceedure is that one will have to register with EUMETSAT to get a user ID and project number, and sign an agreement to not relay/share/make available the data until it is at least 24 hours old. The best way for you to get started on this is to send an email to Dr. Marianne Koenig <address@hidden> and ask her how to get setup to access the data.
