Hi Fred, re: > I can display the GOES-16 data via ADDE. Very good. re: > However, I have no navigation data for the > display. Hmm... I'm betting that you are running a version that does not include support for the FixedGrid projection. re: > I successfully copied an image over to my computer, but I cannot display any > data from the copied data. Again, it sounds like you are running a pre-FixedGrid capable version of McIDAS; one that has support for ABIN navigation. re: > Again there is no navigation data with the area, and when I > try to display it with IMGDISP I get error messages saying "Units requested > are not > available for this image" even if I do not request any units. This suggests a McIDAS version that does not include the ABIN calibration. re: > I am running the 2015 version of Mcidas. That's the reason! re: > Do I need the 2017 version of Mcidas for these basic functions? You need at least Unidata McIDAS-X v2016a to use the data from a remote ADDE server. You will need the v2017 release to serve the data correctly (meaning if you create local AREA files and then use them, you will need v2017). re: > I displayed all 16 channels of the GOES-16. Nice looking images. I think that they are spectacular. They still have a number of issues that are being worked on, but they look great!
