Paul-As Sean notes, there is no convention for handling this, but the underlying IDV framework will handle grids with time varying domains. An example of this is satellite imagery which can vary the region covered from time to time (the old Unidata floater was used as the test case for the code). I don't believe the Aggregate WRF Grids by Time will work, because that relies on the underlying netCDF-Java library to do the aggregation and I think it assumes a constant domain to work. But you could try it. Another way to do it (although a pain) would be if you had each time step in a separate file, would be to load all them in as single grids and use the Grids->Time Steps->Merge timestep sequences formula to do the merge. This bypasses the netCDF-Java aggregation.

Greetings Paul, We've been looking for some example files to work with using this concept. I do not believe there is a standard way to handle the case of time dependent latitude/longitude (standard as in Climate and Forecast standard). Would you be willing to share a few of the individual files for us to take a look? If so, you can upload them here: http://motherlode.ucar.edu/repository/alias/idvupload I have some ideas on this, but it will take some time to play with. Cheers!
