Hi Ward,

I've been compiling this version of NetCDF on various Linux and MacOS
systems, and for the most part things look good.

However, on a two different RedHat Linux systems (yellowstone and a RAL
system) that have gcc V4.4.7, I'm getting these compilation errors:

I don't see these problems with newer versions of gcc, like 4.7.x or 4.8.x.
