Hi Michael,

thank you very much for reporting this. 
We have also seen this problem in other applications writing netcdf3 files from 
some CDM datasets and we are currently working on a fix for that.
Just a couple of questions:
Is there also problems with Grid As point requests in text formats (csv, xml) 
or it only happens in grid requests?
And have you tried to enable the netcdf4 writing in TDS and see if the problem 
persists requesting netcdf4 files?
