Hi Roy:

The file permissions of course are controlled by what permission the user
who started tdm has. Since tdm write index files, it needs write permission
in those directories.

The user=tdm is just for the tomcat configuration in tomcat-users.xml, its
logically different than an actual linux OS user who has a login.

Have a look at the tdm log files for error messages.
