Dave and Bill,

Thank you for the help.  I tried all of the suggestions, using Dave's
latest version, I got  (the similar messages Bill posted) the
following:

java visad.paoloa.GoesRetrieval
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no GoesRetrieval in shared library
path
        at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:429)
        at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:638)
        at visad.paoloa.GoesRetrieval.main(GoesRetrieval.java:99)

It did compile with no errors, but somehow Java can not find the
GoesRetrieval apps.
More ideas?
