Roderick-In general, the IDV supports shapefiles with lat/lon values or a limited number of projections. For the prj file to be read, it should be in a zip file with the shp, idx, and other files. If just have the files on disk, try zipping them up together in one file.
Even so, I suspect the shapes will be slightly off unless all the parameters in the PARAMETER section define the texas state plane completely.

All, I am attempting to overlay some data on maps produced by our regional mapping authority. When I open the files in IDV I only have a line. How do I get IDV to recognize this file, if possible? I have been working with the projection setting but nothing has worked. I am assuming this projection is not one IDV can ingest. http://www.pdnmapa.org/HTML/about.html The maps are shapefiles.
